Baseball Hits Face at 100 mph
This is the set of pictures of Danny Thomson. Here’s his complete story about the accident.
Oct 10, 2008. Day 1
I was in the batting cage with my brother, I pitched him the ball and I wasnt fully behind the pitching net, just being lasy. The ball was hit right back up the middle, hit me around 100mph right on the left cheek. It shattered everything, my bone punctured through my skin and was squirting blood causing more blood than just out of my nose and mouth.
Day 2
Day 20?
Oct. 30, 2008 Surgery Day
I Had surgery fixing shattered left cheek, broken jaw, broken nose, right cheek under eye, I got 11 plates, 5 screws and a wire inside holding from my jaw up and eye together.
After Surgery
2 weeks after surgery
After getting my eye patch, and nose things out
Nov 17, 2008.
All my swelling is almost gone, there is still pain occasionally. Just starting to chew really soft food now, I’ve lost around 10 pounds only eating jello and pudding for the last month and a half.
About 85% Recovered
After surgey
the 5 holes under my eye are where the screws are at, and you can see the wire holding my eye together, also all the plates you cant see, since there all covering the bone, and this scan only does the bone
Year Later, November 2009
I’m fully healed and the plates are dissolving, there will only be the screw itself left after a few years.
I’ve had many people touch and feel the screws and wire, but to this day you can’t even tell what happened.
