Back To The Salt Mines
These photographs were taken in Java. They represent the people who work in sulfur and oil mines. The oil wells there produce 170,000 barrels of oil a day. The sulfur mines produce over 176 pounds of sulfur a day. The work in both is environments is quite difficult and creates health problems for those who work there. For this work the workers earn about $11 a day.
